Friday and yesterday were absolutely over the top!!
I want to start this email basically from yesterday and go backwards
Our Fun Run/Cruise Fest Weekend was a resounding success!! Both financially, but more so from participation!!
Andy and his "Band of Merry Men" put together a fantastic Poker Run. The stops were great, I had never been to the Garlic farm. Although I do not know the exact number, seemed to me to be bigger than ever before!! I do know that Fun Run day was truly a financial success!! Thank You Andy and everyone involved for making Friday so much fun!!
Before I move on, I must thank all the 'Lady Cruisers' for all the delicious desserts you brought for us all!! Our visitors from other clubs were blown away that you did this, with so many and such variety!! Thank You ladies, you are the best!!!
Speaking of visitors. We had the Sudbury Classic Cruisers, the North Bay Cruisers as well as the Strathroy Cruisers all come to town. Some on Thursday evening, so they could do both Friday and Saturday or arriving Friday in time for the Poker Run. The name Fun Run/Cruise Fest Weekend had an impact for sure. The Wasaga Beach Cruisers, thru the Grey Hair Tours, have created friendships with other clubs in Ontario. Special friendships, which I feel will only grow and expand now as the years unfold for us!!
I do not have the official number, but what I have been hearing is somewhere around 300 to 350!! Frankly it seemed to me much higher as we were putting cars in places we had not considered as parking for show cars initially!! It was a full house for sure!! I do believe we could get more in with a slight change in how we parked everyone, but there is always next year to correct that problem. But, it is a great problem to have, so not complaining at all!!
Jason from Fugitive Cars with his Batmobile car was a huge addition to the show. His Trophy Award and the Cash Prize added to the excitement of the day for sure. Pierre, the Best of Show winner has called me twice this morning already. He is home making a spot for his new trophy!
Landon Forsythe, the WBC Bursary recipient, did not know he was receiving this award until I called him up to the stage! I messed it up a little, as I was somewhat of an emotional wreck (don't know why) making this presentation!! I haven't spoken to Landon or his parents since, but will continue to try and touch base with them!! Personally, I am very proud that the WBC was able to give this young man this Award. He truly is the future of the car culture!! He placed 5th in Canada, in an automotive competition for high school students, after being number 1 in Ontario!! In total he received $2000. in gift certificates and cash!!
We had so many of our Sponsors in the house, it was awesome. Wayne M. ,besides working with our Sponsors to get them to the show, he also got all our Vendors and Food trucks to the show!! Then he set it all up!! Thank You Wayne for your dedication and hard work!!
How that I am into the 'praise' section of this email.
Mr. Bill Smith, George Johnson, Wayne Miles, Norm Copithorn worked tirelessly to bring this show together, and it showed!
The attention to detail, the planning, all the small things that most of us do not see or realize got addressed!! The success of yesterday was a result of all this work by these Cruisers. Thank You gentlemen for putting on, what I have been told many, many times, the best car show of the season!!
I must not forget all of the other Cruisers who gave a big portion of their time on both Friday and Saturday (some of you both days). Steve Anderson and his entire crew doing the parking for yesterday!! I know from experience that it can be a very trying job. Car people can be difficult at times and one of those times is - being told where we want them to park!! Thank you to Barrie and Phil at the gate and Reg and Lynn M collecting at the gate.
Now for the core of our Club when to comes to volunteers!! Sherri, Ann, Linda, Judy, Joyce, Lynn, Edie, Louise and if I missed someone (which I likely did!!! sorry) Thank You,, Thank You Thank You!!! You ladies are absolutely amazing, we couldn't do it without you!!
Lastly, to all of the people who have contributed photos of yesterday and Friday. Robinlee, Brian V, Aprille w/your drone and our town councilor, Joe Belanger! It is how we can continue to enjoy all the fruits of our labors. Maybe we should do up a slide presentation??? - Wayne and Robinlee!!
For all the Cruisers who made it up to the Rama Father's Day Car Show!! The coupons we all received from the Casino, Kathy has checked with the Casino and these are 'guaranteed admittance' to one of the three shows they have listed. Kathy and I intend to go to the Abba tribute show on July 5th!! Anyone else interested?
The Wasaga Beach Cruisers Car Club is, without question, THE BEST CAR CLUB IN ONTARIO!!!!
